About Meditation

At the beginner’s level, I teach the basics of breath meditation and a mindfulness style meditation called meridian meditation.

Drawing from 17 years of personal exploration and growth, I understand the challenges and rewards of meditation first hand. Meditation is a personal journey within, offering a unique opportunity to connect to and explore different aspects of yourself, depending on how deep you’re willing to go and how much you’re prepared to release.

I support people from various backgrounds, and at different stages and I receive an ongoing support and guidance with my own meditation.

Meditation, an ancient practice, encompasses various levels and techniques. It serves as a powerful tool for training the mind, enhancing focus and concentration, replenishing energy reserves, and fostering spiritual growth. Engaging in meditation can induce a sense of relaxation while also releasing tension from the body. During meditation, specific areas of the brain undergo a slowdown or even temporary deactivation. With regular practice, the prefrontal cortex, responsible for higher cognitive functions like awareness, memory, concentration, decision-making, and happiness, tends to grow thicker. Conversely, the amygdala, the brain region associated with negative emotions, tends to shrink.

My meditation classes are held at my clinic in Old Trafford, Manchester, M16 7QU. I am located within easy travel distance of Manchester City Centre, The M60 and the M602.

What can meditation help with?

The specific benefits experienced may vary from person to person, depending on individual practice, commitment, and goals but here are some examples of what meditation can offer:
Stress Reduction:

Meditation is renowned for its ability to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels by activating the body’s relaxation response, which counters the stress-induced “fight or flight” response.

Improved Focus and Concentration:

Regular meditation practice strengthens the mind’s ability to focus and sustain attention, enhancing productivity and cognitive performance.

Enhanced Emotional Well-being:

Meditation cultivates emotional resilience by fostering a greater sense of inner peace, and emotional regulation. It can help individuals manage anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders.

Better Sleep:

By calming the mind and relaxing the body, meditation can alleviate insomnia and promote deeper, more restful sleep patterns.

Pain Management:

Mindfulness meditation techniques have been shown to reduce the perception of pain and increase pain tolerance by changing how the brain processes pain signals.

Increased Self-awareness:

Meditation encourages self-reflection and introspection, leading to greater self-awareness, insight, and understanding of one’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Lower Blood Pressure:

Mindfulness-based practices have been linked to reductions in blood pressure, which can lower the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Improved Relationships:

Meditation fosters empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence, leading to healthier, more fulfilling relationships with oneself and others.

Spiritual Growth:

For those on a spiritual path, meditation can deepen one’s connection to inner wisdom, higher consciousness, and a sense of interconnectedness with all beings.
